In September, organizations who support the Campaign for Comprehensive Sexuality Education, set up displays and presented information about their contribution to the organization to the community.
Rape Crisis Services Child Abuse Prevention Education team presented sample skits for young elementary students on the danger of keeping secrets. These presentations are provided by the CAPE program and include student participation.
The Teen Awareness Group demonstrated a sample condom use presentation that is used in high school and organization settings. They also talked about the importance of advocacy for comprehensive sexuality education and the dangers of abstinence only education.
The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District displayed information on components of comprehensive sexuality education. The Teen Services department works with pregnant teens and teen mothers and understands the risks of inadequate information about pregnancy prevention.
The Champaign County Health Care Consumers, through their Women’s Task Group, displayed information on Emergency Contraception.
